Jeremy Lee Stein, 40, died Monday, August 9, 2021, at his home in Spearville.

He was born January 29, 1981, at Kinsley, the son of Kelly and Rita (Downey) Stein.  He was a graduate of Spearville High School and a lifetime Spearville area resident.  He worked as an Applicator for the Right Coop from 2001 to 2012, the Offerle Coop for 9 years and most recently for Pride Ag.  He attended St. John the Baptist Catholic Church and was a member of Knights of Columbus Council 1539 both in Spearville.  He loved welding, leather work, and woodworking and enjoyed fishing and hunting.  He had a special love of cooking for his family and friends including his infamous carrot cake.

On September 14, 2013, he married Ashley Ormsby on the Stein Family Farm near Spearville.  She survives.

Other survivors include: their children, Eleanor and Benjamin Stein, of the home; his father and mother, Kelly and Rita Stein, Spearville; his siblings, Jason Stein and wife Rebecca, Hays; Renee Miller, Great Bend; and Adam Stein and wife Raven, Spearville; mother-in-law, Heather Chappell and husband Ken, Bucklin; father-in-law, Wade Ormsby, Marsing, Idaho; 2 sisters-in-law, Christina Davis and husband Aaron, Nampa, Idaho; and Katherine Adams, Spearville; grandmother-in-law, Sharon Grisham, Boise, Idaho; and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Melvin and Shirley Stein and Bernard and Louise (Heeke) Downey and a brother-in-law, Roch Miller II.

Funeral Mass will be at 1:00 pm Wednesday, August 18, 2021, at St. John the Baptist Church, Spearville, with Fr. John Forkuoh presiding.  There will be no public viewing, cremation has taken place.  Friends may sign the register Tuesday from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm at Ziegler Funeral Chapel, Dodge City.
