Geraldine E. 'Jean' Moeder

Geraldine E. “Jean” Moeder, 88, passed away November 7, 2021, at the University of Kansas Health Systems - Great Bend Campus.  She was born November 28, 1932, in Hoisington, to Alois and Anna (Hitschmann) Reif.  Jean married Richard Moeder on November 10, 1953, in Odin.

After growing up in Odin, Jean moved to Great Bend in 1950.  She was a devoted wife and mother. She was also a registered nurse, working in St. Rose's surgical ward before focussing on her daughters and working with her husband Rich as bookkeeper for Rich's Electric.  She was a devoted member of Prince of Peace Parish at St. Patrick Catholic Church, a 50-year member of the Immaculate Conception Circle of the Daughter's of Isabella. She was also a long term member of the church's Altar Society, in which she coordinated funeral dinners for many years. Jean enjoyed many years of bowling in Great Bend Women's Bowling Association, winning many league championships as well as the 1975 state singles title.

Survivors include her husband, Richard Moeder of the home; four daughters, Deb Floodman and husband Michael of Wichita, Cheri Hayes and husband Bill of New Fairfield, CT, Diane Stalcup and husband Kevin of Great Bend and Karen Williams and partner Kendal Nelson of Wichita; eight grandchildren, Kyle Gerstner and wife Allie, Abby Rickard and husband David, Macee Kelley and husband Daniel,  Kelli Myers and husband Shane, Matt Stalcup and wife Andrea, Barry Stalcup and wife Daphne, Lauren Williams and Kacey Williams and partner Ryan Fletter; and 15 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by four brothers, Msgr. Steve Reif, Frank Reif, Lawrence Reif, and Tony Reif; two sisters, Irene Polzin and Emma Prosser; and son-in-law, Kirk Williams.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, November 10, 2021, at St. Patrick Catholic Church, Great Bend, with Father Aneesh Parappanattu presiding.  Interment will follow at Great Bend Cemetery.  Visitation will be 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m, Tuesday, November 9, with an Altar Society Rosary at 4:00 p.m. and a Vigil service followed by the Daughter’s of Isabella Rosary at 5:00 p.m., all at Bryant Funeral Home. 

Memorials may be given to Almost Home, Inc. or Prince of Peace Parish or Holy Family School Endowment Fund, in care of Bryant Funeral Home.
