Another third of an inch of rain falls in Hays; Ellis County in exceptional drought

The clouds looked promising for some weekend rains in Hays.

Ultimately, the only measurable amount fell Friday - 0.33 inches - according to the K-State Agricultural Research Center south of town.

So far this year, Hays has received 6.64 inches of moisture. The 154-year cumulative average by the end of June is 11.27 inches. 

All of Ellis County is in D4 exceptional drought - the driest conditions - according to the Kansas drought map released June 1 by the U.S. Drought Monitor.
