HAYS, Kan. – Fort Hays State Tennis fell to 18th ranked Washburn University on Sunday (Apr. 18) at the FHSU Tennis Courts by a score of 6-1. Kylie Aufdengarten scored a team point for the Tigers by winning her singles match in straight sets, but the No. 2 ranked team in the Central Region swept doubles play and won the five other singles matches.

Aufdengarten defeated Sydnee Foster at the No. 6 singles position by set scores of 6-0 and 6-2. She was the first Tiger to finish at match in singles play, so she leveled the team scores at 1-1 after Washburn earned the team point in doubles play.

In doubles play, Frederick and Aufdengarten played the closest match, falling 6-2 at the No. 3 position.

The Tigers will go on the road next week for their final two MIAA matches, facing Newman Saturday (Apr. 24) and Emporia State Sunday (Apr. 25).
