Herbert E. Kier

Herbert E. Kier, 64, passed away, July 25, 2020, at his home, Larned.

He was born October 8, 1955 in Ness City, Kansas; the son of Richard Lee and Laberta Lee Brown.  A Larned resident since 1988, moving from Norton; he was a Licensed Mental Health Technician at the Larned State Hospital.

Herb graduated from Abraham Lincoln High School in Council Bluffs, Iowa.   He worked in the family owned welding shop, Kiers Welding in Benkleman, Nebraska.  He liked riding motorcycles and taking trips to Colorado and Missouri to motorcycle rallies and vacationing with friends. He loved getting together and shootin’ the bull and reminiscing with family and friends. He enjoyed working with his staff members at the Larned State Hospital. He enjoyed his computer and spending time researching and keeping in touch with friends.

Survivors include; two brothers, Kenneth and Shirley Kier, Clarksville, Arkansas and Robert and Karen Kier, Hershey, Nebraska; a sister, Judy Baney, North Platte, Nebraska; a step-mother, Mary J. Kier, Imperial, Nebraska; step-sister, Jennifer Kier, Madrid, Nebraska; many nieces and nephews; and numerous good friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Cremation has taken place and no services are planned at this time.
