John James Otis, 74, of Oberlin, KS passed away on February 22, 2022.
He was born on April 27, 1947, in Smith Center, KS to John Henry and
Gretchella Eloise (Schropshier) Otis.
John grew up in Agra and graduated from Agra High School. After
high school he joined the Navy in 1968. John was a very active person.
He loved to run, bike, canoe, and take long walks. He also liked
flowers and a good hot cup of coffee.
John is survived by wife Donna Otis of Oberlin, KS; son: Brandon
(Jennifer) Otis of Wichita, KS; daughter: Jaime (David) Rhoades of
Lawton, OK; stepchildren: Tina (Gary) Meitl of Dresden, KS, Rhonda
(Kenneth) Cox of Sioux Falls, SD, and Galen Stacey of Manhattan, KS;
brothers: Paul (Vicky) Otis of Flemington, NJ and David (Gayle) Otis of
Ulysses, KS; sisters: Dara (Roger) Leaming of Fort Scott, KS and Lynn
Rowe of Tampa, FL. He is also survived by 15 grandchildren and 20 Great
Grandchildren. John is preceded in death by his parents.
