⚾ Monarchs sweep Ellis/Quinter to stay unbeaten

ELLIS - The TMP-Marian baseball team remained unbeaten with a pair of 13-3 wins over Ellis/Quinter Tuesday. Both games ended after five innings by run-rule. The Monarchs are now 8-0 on the season. The Monarchs have outscored their first four opponents 110-18.

TMP hosts Abilene for a doubleheader Friday at 4:00 p.m.

Game 1: TMP-Marian 13, Ellis 3 (5 innings)
The Monarchs took the early lead on a Caden Dinkel RBI single in the first but Ellis answered with two in the second on an RBI double from Baylor Born and RBI single from Easton Blackwill for their only lead of the day.

TMP answered with three in the second and third innings then added two in the fourth and four in the fifth.

Grant Nehls hit a solo homer to cap the scoring in the second. Dinkel added a solo homer in the third.

Logan Baalmann two runs on four hits with six strikeouts and no walks over 3 2/3 innings and picked up the win. Carson Liles pitched the final 1 1/3 for TMP.

Ben Byers suffered the loss for Ellis going 3 1/3 innings.

Ian Nehls had three of the Monarchs 12 hits. Jacob Seib, Dinkel, and Nash Dreiling each drove in two runs. The Monarchs also drew seven walks, three of them by Ty Schmeidler. Ian Nehls stole three bases.

Born, Blackwill, and Byers each drove in one run for Ellis Varsity Railers. Ellis Varsity Railers turned one double play in the game.

Game 2: TMP-Marian 13, Ellis 3 (5 innings)
Logan Baalmann had three hits, drove in two runs and scored three times. Baalmann doubled in the first inning, and singled in the second inning and hit a solo home run to left field in the fourth inning. Ty Schmeidler also added three hits and drove in two and scored a run.

The Monarchs got on the board in the top of the first inning after Baalmann doubled down the right field line, and Caden Dinkel singled down the left field line, each scoring one run.

TMP scored five runs on four hits in the top of the second inning. Ty Schmeidler doubled, scoring two runs, Carson Liles added an RBI single, Grant Nehls drove in a run on a fielder's choice and another run scored on an error.

The Monarchs added another run in the third on a Liles doubled to left field to make the score 8-1.

Baalman’s home run highlighted TMP’s five-run fourth. Jacob Seib added an RBI single, Connor Breit drove in two with a double and another run scored on an error.

Dinkel allowed one unearned run on four hits with three strikeouts and no walks over 3 innings and earned the win. Ty Schmeidler gave up two runs (one earned) on three hits in an inning of relief.

Easton Blackwill gave up two runs on four hits over 2 2/3 innings and took the loss for the Railers.

Blackwill and Aiden Aschenbrenner each collected two hits for Ellis/Quinter.
