HAYS - The Hays High boys soccer edged Emporia 2-1 Thursday to advance to the finals of the Salina South Invitational.
Mason Schleicher scored both goals for the Indians who improved to 2-1 on the season. The first goal came in the 46th minute off an assist from Oscar Perez. The game winner came five minutes later.
Hays will play host Salina South in Saturday's finals at four. The Cougars beat St. James Academy 3-0 and have outscored their two opponents in the tournament 8-0.
