There's still time for Hays residents and businesses to qualify for 2020 rebates from the city for the purchase of some water-saving appliances before the end of the year.
"There is still funding available and time to take advantage of the high efficiency toilet or washing machine rebates," says Holly Dickman, Hays water conservation specialist.
"If you happen to get a new high efficiency washing machine for Christmas, be sure to check the program details and rebate forms at www.watersmarthays.com."
The clothes washer rebate program offers two tiers, with more efficient washer models qualifying for a higher rebate payment. The lower the integrated water factor (IWF), the bigger the rebate.
* 3.7 - 3.3 IWF--$100
* 3.2 - 2.7 IWF--$250
The toilet rebate program offers three tiers, with more efficient toilet models qualifying for a higher rebate payment. The lower gallons per flush (GPF), the bigger the rebate.
* Rebate are given only for toilets that flush at or under 1.28 gallons per flush (GPF) and carry the WaterSense label.
* 0.8 GPF--$150 (or purchase price if less than $150)
*1.0 GPF--$100
*1.1 - 1.28 GPF--$50
