Edward Lewis McCurry, 94, passed away January 20, 2022, at Medicalodges in Great Bend, Kansas. He was born May 16, 1927, in Hoisington, Kansas to Francis and Clara (Harper) McCurry. Edward married Marjorie Hickey on August 17, 1964 in Hoisington. She died on April 15, 2018.
A lifetime resident of Hoisington, Edward graduated from Hoisington High School. During that time, he greatly enjoyed working at the movie theater running the projector and splicing the film. He then served in the United States Army, returning to Hoisington to become a dedicated farmer and rancher.
Survivors include his son, Michael (Laurie) McCurry of Hoisington; two grandsons, Cole (Raegan) McCurry and Nolan (Sara) McCurry; and one great-granddaughter, Harper McCurry. He is preceded in death by his wife; a brother, Robert; and a sister, Betty Bott.
Visitation will be 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m., Monday, January 24, 2022, at Nicholson-Ricke Funeral Home, with family to greet friends from 6 to 8 p.m. and Vigil and Rosary at 7:00 p.m.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, January 25, 2022, at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Hoisington, with Father Stephan Dabanka celebrating. Interment will follow at St. John Catholic Cemetery, Hoisington.
