👟 FHSU track and field breaks two more record in California

Azusa, Calif. - Two more school records were broken on the final day of the Bryan Clay Invitational in Azusa, Calif. on Friday. The Tigers racked up seven provisional performances on Friday, giving FHSU a total of 15 provisional marks and six school records for the week.

The 4x400m relay team of Lyric HolmanKendra ClaryTaylor Savolt and Mattie Rossi broke the school record with a time of 3:45.64, good for fifth out of 19 teams. After shattering the 3,000m steeplechase record on Wednesday, Gretchen Kuffel improved the 1,500m record by more than 1.5 seconds after completing the race in 4:34.04. She finished 42nd in the open A division.

Holman and Rossi both tallied two other provisional marks. Holman ran 11.67 in the 100m dash, good for sixth out of 111 athletes, before she finished fourth out of 130 competitors in the 200m dash with a time of 23.93. She was the top collegiate finisher in the 200m dash. Rossi posted a time of 14.14 in the 100m hurdles, good for 12th place, while completing the 400m hurdles in 1:01.68, good for 11th.

On the men's side, Jacob Clark finished second in the invitational section of the pole vault after clearing the 16-8 bar. The men's 4x400m relay team of Hayden AlbrightNolan ChurchmanEthan Lang and Jack Pakkebier ran a provisional time of 3:13.61, good for fifth place.

The Tigers also had several athletes competing at the Loper Invitational in Kearney, Neb. Halle Johnson won the 1,500m run with a time of 4:52.00. Tori Poe was second in the 200m dash in 25.44 and third in the 100m dash after crossing the line in 12.29. Chloe Stanley finished second in the 100m hurdles with a time of 14.86 and was third in the 400m hurdles after completing the race in 1:05.99. On the men's side, Garron Champoux was fourth in the javelin with a top heave of 168-6 while Isaac Radke was also fourth in the 800m run with a time of 2:01.72.

The Tigers are next scheduled to compete in the Midwest Classic in Emporia, Kan. on Saturday, April 23.
