Pastor Steve Dinkel

Pastor Steve Dinkel, age 62, of Hays, Kansas, died Wednesday, August 12, 2020, at his home.  He was born June 7, 1958, in Plainville, Kansas, to Leo and Odellia “Tillie” (Schamberger) Dinkel.  He married Kathy (Mall) on February 27, 1982, in Hays, Kansas.

He became the pastor at Liberty Foursquare Church (then Liberty Christian Fellowship) in 1994 and spent the last 20 years in full-time ministry.     

He was raised in Quinter, Kansas and was a 1976 graduate from Quinter High School.  He attended one year at Maur Hill-Mount Academy in Atchison, Kansas. Steve, being a life-long student, attended Oral Roberts University in 1977, earned an associate’s degree in 2006 from Fort Hays State University, and graduated in 2010 from Victory Bible Institute.

He spent his early career in sales—selling cars at Unruh Chevrolet in Quinter, Kansas; Tink’s Auto Mart in Tulsa, Oklahoma; and Harries’ Motor Company in WaKeeney, Kansas.  He was a salesman for Western Office Supply and Northwestern Office Suppliers both in Hays, Kansas from 1985 to 2000. 

Steve enjoyed RV’ing with his family in the Colorado Rockies, and also enjoyed helping people purchase cars.

Survivors include his wife Kathy, of the home; two sons, Chris Dinkel and wife, Ervis, New York, NY; Matt Dinkel and wife, Rebekah, Olathe, KS; two daughters, Molly Lofstrom and husband, Chris, Hays, KS; Amanda Dinkel and her husband, Indiana Elman, Wichita, KS; one brother, Dennis Dinkel, Liberal, KS; four grandchildren, Liam Dinkel, Marcelyn and Erin Lofstrom, Shiloh Dinkel; and a number of nieces and nephews.

He was preceded by his parents; his father-law, Gene Mall and his mother-in-law, Charlotte Mall-Brantley. 

A family only funeral service will be at 10:00 A.M. Saturday, August 15, 2020, at Liberty Foursquare Church, 400 East 7th Street, Hays, Kansas.  A live stream broadcast for the public will be available at Liberty Foursquare Church Hays FACEBOOK PAGE.  Burial will be at Mount Allen Cemetery, Hays, Kansas.

Visitation will be from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. Friday, at Cline’s-Keithley Mortuary of Hays, 1919 East 22nd Street, Hays, Kansas 67601.  

The family suggests memorials to Foursquare Missions Press; St. Joseph’s Food Pantry; or Liberty Foursquare Church, Hays, Kansas.
