SMITH COUNTY—One person was injured in an accident just before 4:30p.m. Tuesday in Smith County.
Thee Kansas Highway Patrol reported a 2022 Ford Ranger driven by Hazel G. Nichols, 81, Smith Center, was attempting to cross U.S. 36 southbound from the stop sign at U.S. 281.
The driver failed to see a 2005 Peterbilt semi driven by Matthew A. McCarthy, 41, Goodland. The vehicles collided in the intersection.
EMS transported Nichols to the Smith County Hospital. McCarthy was not injured. Both drivers were properly restrained, according to the KHP.
