The National Weather Service has issued a tornado watch for a wide swath of northwest Kansas into the early morning hours Thursday.
Widespread hail — up to softball-sized — is likely, as well as wind gusts up to 75 mph.
Several strong tornadoes are also predicted with the storm, the NWS said.
