Posted Aug 28, 2020 12:27 AM

In a contentious meeting Thursday, the Hays City Commission voted to extend the face covering mandate.

The vote passed 3-2, with Commissioners Mason Ruder and Michael Berges opposing.

The mask mandate will be extended until Oct. 5.

Five Hays residents spoke in favor of ending the mask mandate, while no one appeared in favor of the ordinance.

One of the speakers was escorted out of the commission chambers by law enforcement at the request of Mayor Shaun Musil.
