Mara Katrina Johnson (Lawver)

Mara K. Johnson went to live eternally with her Savior on July 11, 2020.  She was born September 21, 1928 in Oberlin, Kansas to Mr. and Mrs. Earl Lawver.  In 1946, she married Glenn Thaine Tice and they were married for eighteen years until Glenn’s passing in 1964.  Later, she married Allen M. Johnson and Mara and Allen were together for over forty years until his passing in 2015.  In 2016, Mara came out to live with her daughter, Dianne and her family in Colby ,Ks.  

Mara enjoyed gardening, sewing, remodeling, and cooking.   Mara’s predominant interest and focus was on her family and her faith which carried her through 91 years of joys and challenges. Mara always had a good listening ear to her family and a strong resolve to help with any means needed, and we knew this resolve was always founded and guided in prayer.  Mara had a strong foundation through her faith in Jesus Christ as her mother was an ordained minister.  

She is survived by her two daughters; Dianne (Barry) Kaaz of Colby, KS and Vicky McAtee of Manhattan, KS; three grandchildren, Tammy Plumisto of Rexford, KS, Glenn Kaaz of Colby, KS, and Daniel Trechter of Manhattan, KS;  four great grandchildren, Valerie Fenske of Alamosa, CO, Hannah Trechter of Manhattan, Chloe Ackerman of Rexford, KS, and Athena Kaaz of Colby , KS;  four great great grandchildren, Rune, Lance, Lilly, and Luray Fenske of Alamosa, CO.

Visitation will be 5-7:00p.m. on Monday, July 13,2020 at Baalmann Mortuary,190 S. Franklin Ave, Colby.  Funeral services will be at 1:00pm,Tuesday, July 14th at Colby Wesleyan Church, 320 W.
