HAYS - Many times a major injury to a senior in high school signals the end of a career. That certainly could have been the case for Hays High senior Julia Zimmerman.
Playing intramural basketball in February, Zimmerman tore two ligaments in her knee. The senior goalie's season was done before practices ever started.
However, Pratt Community College was still interested. Zimmerman listened and Wednesday signed to play for the Beavers.

Zimmerman was part of back-to-back Western Athletic Conference soccer teams. The Indians control their own destiny over their next two matches in search of a third straight title.
Coach Tyler Rueschoff recalled the first time that Zimmerman played for him. She took a knee to the face which resulted in a hole in her lip. Ten minutes later Zimmerman was back on the field.
