Overnight rain in Hays yields 3/4 inch; moisture total ahead for the month

Overnight rain Thursday brought 0.76 of an inch of welcome moisture to Hays, as measured at the K-State Agricultural Research Center south of town.

Three-quarters of an inch also fell at the Eagle Media Center, 23oo Hall.

Hays is now ahead in total moisture for the month of August and for the year-to-date.

Hays' 157-year-old record average for the month of August is 3.01 inches and 17.70 inches for the year by the end of August.

As of August 23, Hays has received 4.25 inches of rain and 18.15 inches for the year.

The three-day weather forecast calls for a chance of thunderstorms Friday and Sunday and temperatures past the century mark this weekend.
