Marlin Lloyd Bowen was born on Oct. 7, 1933 in Watertown, South Dakota
to Frank and Agnes (Barkley) Bowen. He passed away on August 28, 2020 at
his home in Oberlin, Kansas at the age of 86.
Marlin graduated from Watertown High School. He married Charlotte
Ann Schmidt on March 8, 1953 and together they had 4 children,
Christine, Kathryn, Timothy, and Mary. He loved golfing, bowling, and
antiques. Marlin owned Cabin Antiques in downtown Oberlin where he loved
to talk to people as they came into his store or as they walked by.
Marlin was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Agnes; wife,
Charlotte; brother, Bobby Bowen; sister, Marion Robish. He is survived
by son, Timothy Bowen of Oberlin, KS and daughters, Christine (Cara
Frazier) Bowen of Denver, CO, Kathryn Washington of Sioux Falls, SD, and
Mary (Don) Jacobs of Huron, SD. He is also survived by 8 grandchildren,
13 great grandchildren, and his cat and best friend Murphy.
A memorial service will be held at the United Methodist Church of
Oberlin on Friday, Sept. 4, 2020 at 11:00AM. Memorial contributions may
be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or the Make a Wish
