ELLIS COUNTY —A police pursuit ended in an accident just after 10:30p.m. Monday in Ellis County.

A police officer in Ellis observed a driver later identified as 29-year-old Kyle Williams of Abilene driving erratically, according to Police Chief Christopher Krom.

During the police pursuit, the 1998 Ford Taurus driven Williams, left the road  in the 100 Block of Old Highway 40. The car entered the north ditch, struck a tree and rolled onto the driver's side, according to the Kansas Highway Patrol.

EMS transported Williams to Hays Medical Center. He was not wearing a seat belt, according to the KHP.

ELLIS COUNTY — One person was injured in an accident just after 10:30 p.m. Monday during a police pursuit in Ellis County.

The Kansas Highway Patrol reported the Ellis Police Department was in pursuit of a 1998 Ford Taurus driven by  Kyle L. Williams, 29, Abilene, in the 100 Block of Old Highway 40.

The Taurus left the roadway to the right, entered the north ditch, struck a tree and rolled onto the driver's side.

EMS transported Williams to Hays Medical Center. He was not wearing a seat belt, according to the KHP.  Authorities have not released details on what prompted the chase.
