Dighton- Marvin Roberts, 82, died on Tuesday, April 23, 2024 at Lane County Hospital in Dighton. He was born on November 9, 1941 at Quinter the son of Carlos D. & Elizabeth L. (Bentley) Roberts. He married Opal M. Nelson on May 29, 1971 at Rush Center.

Marvin graduated from Dighton High School in 1959 with the Class of 1959. He served with the United States Army in Viet Nam in an artillery division. After his discharge he returned to Lane County where he was a lifelong farmer and rancher. He was a member of the Shields United Methodist Church and later the Dighton United Methodist Church where he served on many committees and boards of both. He was a longtime Lane County Hospital board member and a 4-H leader and supporter. Marvin enjoyed trips to the Colorado mountains for 4 wheel drive jeep adventures, blue grass festivals, trips to historical places and observing oil wells and drillings in Lane County. He had a large shark tooth and fossil collection that he gathered. His special joy though was following his kids and grandchildren sporting and other activities down to taking Ella prom dress shopping.

He is survived by his Wife- Opal Roberts, 3 Sons- Glenn C. & Rene Roberts of Dighton Ross S. & Kimberly Roberts of Scott City and Darren P. & Jessica Roberts of Shields, 2 Brothers- Allen Roberts of Bismarck, Arkansas and Carl Roberts of Shields, 2 Sisters- Ellen McCue of Wichita and Vada Winger of Bertram, Texas and 7 Grandchildren- Ella, Christopher, Dakota, Spencer, Daisy, Ravanna and Ava. He is preceded in death by his Parents, 2 Brother-In-Laws and 2 Sister-In-Laws.

Funeral Service will be at 11:00 AM Monday at United Methodist Church in Dighton with Rev A.G. Turner officiating. Private family burial will be in Dighton Memorial Cemetery. Friends may call from 1:00 PM to 8:00 PM Sunday with family present from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Boomhower Funeral Home in Dighton.
