Dorothy Marie “Dottie” (Beaty) Brown, 95, of Russell, Kansas, passed away Monday, June 6, 2022, at Main Street Manor in Russell, Kansas.
Dottie was born January 19, 1927, in Snyder, Texas. She was the daughter of Albert and Gladys M. (Gibbons) Beaty. Dorothy’s mother Gladys raised her two children during the depression on her own. It was hard times and they moved allot. Her favorite town growing up was Goldsmith, Texas. In the 1940s, she attended Snowden, Texas, dramatic school and studied acting and voice training. While in college, she worked as a carhop at the “Triple Ex” drive-in.
Dottie was united in marriage to Kenny Dole on June 22, 1947, in Russell. They were blessed with two children; Nancy and William. They were divorced after 20 years of marriage. Later, she was united in marriage to Marvin Brown on July 14, 1979, in Estes Park, Colorado. They lived in Sterling, Colorado until Marvin’s death on September 19, 2002.
Dottie was a member of the largest sorority of women, a Homemaker. In her words, “She tried to give her kids what she didn’t have, a home.” She attended Methodist Churches all of her life. She was a member of the Beta Sigma Phi Sorority and the Ladies V.F.W. Post #6240 Auxiliary. She enjoyed reading and staying up with the latest fashions, films and hair styles, collecting antiques and spending time with her family and friends. She created a fashion and film library for her grandson Dustin to use in his studies in college.
Dottie’s surviving family include her son, William Dole of Russell, Kansas; two grandchildren, Shane Poche’ of Russell, Kansas and Dustin Poche’ of Russell, Kansas; great grandchildren Hanna Chandler, Savannah Barlow and Taylor Barlow.
Dottie was preceded in death by her parents, husband Marvin, daughter Nancy Poche’-Stoppel, and brother Roy Beaty.
A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 AM, Thursday, June 16, 2022, at Pohlman-Varner-Peeler Mortuary. Visitation will be held from 9:00 AM to Services on Thursday at the Mortuary. Condolences may be sent to Pohlman-Varner-Peeler Mortuary, who is in charge of these arrangements.
