🤼Hoxie claims MCL tournament title

NORTON – The Hoxie Indians had eight individual champions as they ran away with the Mid-Continent League wrestling tournament in Norton Friday.

The Indians claimed individual titles at 113 (Wayne Shepard), 120 (Carson Ochs) 126 (Dayton Bell), 132 (Drew Bell), 145 (Derek Johnson), 160 (Aidan Baalman), 195 (Donovan Balluch) and 285 (Brandon Baker) while collecting 228 team points. Ellis finished second as a team with 137.5 points. Smith Center (124.5), Plainville (107) and Hill City (95.5) rounded out the top five.

Ellis’ Mason Younger claimed the individual title at 106 pounds while Konnor Pfeifer finished second at 170 pounds.  Mason Gottschalk finished third at 182 pounds while Jarret Mader (126), Gannon Winter (132), Sam Pyle (138), Zeke Haag (145), George Crawford (160) and Toby Woodworth (195) all finished fourth.

Plainville’s Ben Hansen earlier the individual title at 170 pounds.

Hill City’s Aiden Amrein earned the title at 152 pounds and Jayce Hamel claimed the title at 182 pounds.

TMP had three individuals place in the top six led by Seamus Holmes’ third place finished at 120 pounds. Brayden Binder finished fifth at 126 pounds and at 160 pounds Tathen Lovewell finished sixth.
