LILBURN, Ga. - The Fort Hays State women's basketball team moved to 19th in this week's WBCA NCAA Division II Coaches Poll, released Tuesday by the coaches association.
The Tigers (14-3, 7-3 MIAA) slid up one spot after picking up a 70-68 road with over Nebraska-Kearney last Saturday (Jan. 20). This is the second time the Tigers have been ranked 19th in the coaches poll and the first since 2019 when FHSU went 1-0 as the 19th-ranked team in America.
After playing to a 10-3 record when ranked this season, Fort Hays State is now 155-41 all-time when ranked inside the coaches top 25. This is the 102nd time the Tigers have been included in a weekly release of the poll.
The Tigers have now been ranked for eight-straight weeks, ranging from 10th earlier this month and to 22nd back in November.
Fort Hays State is one of two MIAA programs inside the top 25 this week, with Central Missouri also moving up one spot to No. 16. Four other Central Region opponents also grace the top 25, including No. 4 Southern Nazarene, No. 14 Harding, No. 23 Northwestern Oklahoma State and No. 25 Minnesota State.
The Tigers will play seven of their final 11 regular season games at home starting Thursday when FHSU hosts Washburn for the first time since December 2020. First tip between the Tigers and Ichabods is slated for 5:30 p.m.
