Eunice L. North, 97, McCracken, Kansas, passed away Wednesday, November 3, 2021, at the Good Samaritan Society, Ellis, Kansas.
Mrs. North was born January 28, 1924, in rural Rush County, Kansas, the daughter of Chess and Maggie (Hayes) Irvin. She was a lifelong resident of Rush County, Kansas. Eunice was a homemaker and farm wife. She worked on the farm alongside her husband, Albert, whether that be working in the fields, running parts, or any of the other many chores she “volunteered” for.
She was a member of the EUB Church, which later became the United Methodist Church, McCracken, Kansas. She served as the church Sunday School Treasurer for many years.
On May 18, 1941, she married Albert L. North at Hays, Kansas. He preceded her in death January 22, 1994.
Survivors include: two sons, Arlyn North (Jan), McCracken, Kansas, and Daryl North, Hays, Kansas; two daughters, Jolene Showalter (Jesse), Bloomington, Illinois, and Janice Basgall, McCracken, Kansas; 14 grandchildren, Jacque Showalter Sparrow, Julie Showalter Stull (Craig), Jeffrey Showalter (Karen), Laura North Martin (Ronn), Heath North (Paula), Ted North (Shawna), Tricia North, Adam North (Jami), Travis North (Ava), Cindy North Zadina (Chris), Joshua North (Kayla), Dane Basgall (Janae), Danae Basgall Younger (Chris), and Dylan Basgall (Rachel); 26 great grandchildren; and four great great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; one son, Paul North; an infant daughter, Joan North; one grandson, Arthur North; one great grandson, Cory Stull; two brothers, Williard Irvin and Chester Irvin; and one sister, Clara Daniel.
Visitation will be Monday, November 8, 2021, from 5:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. at the Janousek Funeral Home, La Crosse, Kansas.
Church visitation will be Tuesday, November 9, 2021, from 9:30 A.M. to 10:20 A.M. at the United Methodist Church, McCracken, Kansas.
Funeral service will be Tuesday, November 9, 2021, at 10:30 A.M. at the United Methodist Church, McCracken, Kansas, with Pastor Tricia North and Pastor Brant Rice officiating. Interment will be in the McCracken City Cemetery, McCracken, Kansas.
In lieu of flowers or plants, the family requests memorials to Rural Fire District #7, McCracken, Kansas.
