A Hays man allegedly stole a trailer that has yet to be recovered.
Hays Deputy Police Chief Tim Greenwood said 52-year-old Michael Anthony Brower was taken into custody for two alleged counts of felony theft and criminal property damage.
Greenwood said a 7-by-16-foot utility trailer was stolen from the 1000 block of East 29th Street sometime between July 17 and 23, with the theft reported to police on July 24.
Officers reviewed surveillance footage from a nearby business that allegedly captured a suspect vehicle leaving the area. They identified its license plate, and the car was later found and towed as evidence that same day.
Greenwood said Brower was identified through a match with his driver’s license photo and was also arrested that same day. The 2003 dual-axle utility trailer remains missing and is listed as stolen in the National Crime Information Center database.
