Fort Hays State Football returned to the D2Football.com Top 25 on Monday (Sept. 8) after its win at top-10 ranked CSU Pueblo last week. FHSU started the season at No. 20 in the poll, fell out after its loss to nationally ranked Angelo State, but now returns this week after its win over nationally ranked CSU Pueblo. The Tigers are ranked No. 22 in the poll going into MIAA play.
Fort Hays State is one of three MIAA schools in the D2Football.com Top 25 Poll this week, joining Central Oklahoma (No. 12) and Pittsburg State (No. 16). The Tigers open MIAA play this week, hosting Nebraska-Kearney for its MIAA opener on Saturday night (Sept. 13) in Hays at 7 p.m.
In the latest AFCA Top 25 Poll, Fort Hays State is back among the receiving votes section. The Tigers were the fourth-highest receiving votes team in the preseason poll, were not mentioned in the September 2 edition of the poll, but return to the receiving votes section this week with 14 votes. Nebraska-Kearney, Fort Hays State's opponent this week, received one vote in the poll. Central Oklahoma is No. 15 and Pittsburg State is No. 24 in the latest AFCA poll.
