Dianne L. Merz, 74, passed away at Parker Adventist Hospital in Parker, CO on July 25, 2021.
Dianne was born on September 9, 1946, in Goodland, KS to Lyman and Virgiline (Duell) Amos. Dianne attended and Graduated Goodland High School with a diploma in 1964. Dianne then went to Fort Hays for 3 years then continued her education in Washburn, KS where she got her Bachelor’s Degree in Education in 1969. On June 26th, 1966 Dianne married Doyl Merz at the First United Methodist Church in Goodland, KS. The couple adopted two sons when they were newborns Steven in 1973 and Kevin Merz in 1975.
Dianne started her teaching career in 1969 and continued teaching for 30 years in the Lawrence, KS school district. Dianne retired in 2008 to come back to Goodland, KS to take care of her elderly mother. Dianna’s passion was her family, Dianne learned to fly and had her pilots license where she would fly mostly in Eastern Kansas. Dianne also started a T-Shirt business with aviation designs. Dianne enjoyed her flower garden, silk screening, cake decorating, Stain glass, and reading.
She was preceded in death by her parents and Grandparents.
Surviving family includes her husband Doyl Merz, her two sons Steven (Melissa) Merz of Springfield, MO, Kevin Merz of Lawrence, KS. One grandchild Robert Merz of Lawrence, KS. Brothers Ron (Kathy) Amos of Mound City, MO, Dan (Karen) Amos of Nixi, MO. Sister Linda (Walt) Linthacum of Goodland, KS.
Memorial services will be held on Wednesday, August 4, 2021 at 2:00 PM MT at Koons-Russell Funeral Home in Goodland with Pastor Young Won officiating. Burial will follow in the Goodland Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be designated to Goodland United Methodist church and Multiple Sclerosis Foundation and may be left at the services or mailed to Koons-Russell Funeral Home, 211 N. Main Ave., Goodland, KS 67735.
