Patricia Diane Payne, 66, Wichita, died Wednesday, August 25, 2021, in Wichita.
She was born March 15, 1955, in Hays, the daughter of Milton M. and Gracie (Stokes) Moore. Her battle with serious medical issues showed her courage in facing life challenges with her family until the end. Diane was the eldest of five little chicks and her chosen sisters, Grace (Nick) Phillips and Susan (Doug) Shaw. Diane loved her family and grandchildren dearly. She was funny, unpredictable, witty, clumsy, goofy, and had a big heart. Diane was a loving and caring wife, mother, and grandmother. Her smile along with her infectious laugh would light up a room. She will be dearly missed and forever in her family’s hearts.
Survivors include her husband of 26 years: Cliford “Clif” S. Payne of Wichita, children: Heather (Thanh) Hatcher of Wichita, Ashley (Shawn) Harader of Wichita, Leah (Mason) Burman of California, Samantha (Rigel) Butler of Texas, and Scot (Samantha) Payne of Missouri, siblings: Athenna “Sis” (Gary) Moore of Hays, Gina “Pill” (Jay) Smith of Arkansas, Becky “Beck” (Keith) Thomas of Kansas City, Jennifer “Tige” (Greg) Bethel of Hays, and Travis (Jennifer) Stokes of Connecticut, and 18 grandchildren: Brenden, Madelynn, Jaxon, Brentin, Ethan, Evelynn, Eli, Amiriah, Skyler, Kaleb, Bradley, Taylor, Trent, Adeline, Hunter, Olivia, Aiden, and Emma.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a granddaughter: Arianna Payne.
A Celebration of Life Service will be at 1:30 pm on Wednesday, September 1, 2021, at Hays Memorial Chapel Funeral Home, with Rev. Delbert Stanton officiating. The family will receive friends from 1:00 pm until service time. A private family inurnment will take place at a later date.
