SALINA – Going into their games Tuesday, the Hays High softball team had won seven straight and still had a chance to host one of next week’s 5A regionals but the win streak was snapped and with it the chance to host. The Indians lost 14-4 to Salina South and 7-2 to Andover Central.
Hays (12-7) was tied with the Cougars 4-4 after three innings in the first game but South scored seven runs in the fourth inning then three in the fifth for the run-rule victory.
Brenna Schwien drove in two of the Indians four runs. Morgen Berry and Sydney Fagan knocked in the other two.
The Indians trailed 4-2 after two innings in the second game with Andover Central. It stayed that way until the sixth when the Jaguars scored a run then added two in the top of the seventh.
Madyson Sennett had two of the Indians seven hits and drove in a run along with Morgen Berry.
Aubree Thomas went the distance and took the loss in both games.
HHS closes out their regular season with a single game in Garden City Thursday.
