Wichita woman arrested in Ellis for alleged car theft, drug possession

At 11:47 p.m. on Sept. 2, an Ellis Police Officer was dispatched to Love's, 200 Washington for a possible disturbance. Love's employees stated that a female was inside the store, causing a disturbance, and had a disagreement about paying for items.

Throughout the officer's investigation, it was discovered that the female, identified as Janet McCoy, 24, Wichita KS, was in possession of a vehicle that was reported stolen out of Riley County, KS. Officers also located suspected Methamphetamine and drug-related paraphernalia.

Janet was arrested and booked into the Ellis County Jail without incident. The theft offense is being prosecuted by the Riley County Attorney's Office and the following charges were requested through the Ellis County District Court:

-Possession of Opiates, Opium, Narcotics, or a Certain Stimulant
-Possession of Drug Paraphernalia
-Criminal Use of a Financial Card
