NORTH PLATTE, Neb.-In a year that has seen three people killed in hunting accidents in Nebraska, the light is shining even brighter on the importance of educating young hunters.

The Nebraska Game and Parks Commission will offer the Nebraska Firearm Hunter Safety Education Course on Jan. 3-5, with the class meeting from 5:00-9:00 each evening.

Any child attending the course under 11 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian at every session, and, at the first session, everyone under 18 years of age must give the instructor a signed, completed parental consent form.

All registrants for this event must be 11 years of age by January 5, 2023.

Firearm Hunter Education Courses will provide instruction in safe firearm use, shooting and sighting techniques, hunter ethics, game identification, and conservation management. Hunters ages 12 through 29 must have completed Firearm Hunter Education and carry proof on their person when hunting anything with a firearm or air gun.

The class is organized by Gregg Fear who can be reached at 308-530-9060.
