
Larry Leon Guinn, 83, passed away on Nov. 5, 2021, in Aurora, CO. He was
born on Sept. 25, 1938, in Oberlin, KS to Bruce and Dorthea (Bowser)
Guinn.
Larry grew up in Oberlin and graduated from DCHS in 1956. He was on
the Oberlin football team that went undefeated in 1955. He was also the
state wrestling champion his senior year. After high school he went to
Fort Hays State University and received a bachelor’s degree in Education
in 1962. He then moved to Denver, CO area where he was a PE teacher
and coached both wrestling and football for 30 years. In 1967 he
married Barbara James and to that union they had a son, Scott. Larry
had the hobby of buying old cars, fixing them up and trading for
something else. He also loved watching and talking about his favorite
sports teams.
Larry is survived by wife, Violet Guinn of Aurora, CO; son; Scott
(Brook) Guinn of Anderson, SC; grandsons; Skyler and Alex; brother; Gary
(Marjorie) Guinn of Oberlin, KS, he is also survived by several nieces
and nephew. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers; Bruce
(Hazel) Guinn and Don (Juanita) Guinn.
