George R. Werth

George R. Werth was born in Hays, Kansas on May 31, 1955. He was the son of Richard R. Werth and Mildred E. (Orth) Werth. George passed away in his home in Cut Bank, MT on January 20, 2021. 

 George graduated from Ellis High School in Kansas and, after graduating, started his phone company career on July 19, 1973, as a telephone operator. He held many positions at Southwestern Bell and later with AT&T. He finished his career as system technician network services, retiring after 38 years on March 31, 2012.

After visiting relatives in Montana for many years, George purchased a second home in Cut Bank where he shared his love of Big Sky Country and the Hutterite colonies with many friends and family members. 

He loved to go fishing, ice fishing was his favorite. George had, as he called them, many toys including his love of corvettes. People who knew George knew of his generosity. He had a soft spot in his heart for children and the elderly. A great man in so many ways

He married Bonnie Giest Dinkel on May 19th, 2006, in Colby, Kansas.

He is survived by his wife, Bonnie of the home; mother, Mildred Werth of Ellis, KS; brother, Allen (Cheryl) Werth of Hay, KS; sisters, Vivian (Bill) Zimmerman of Hays Kansas and Linda Werth of Oklahoma City, OK; stepchildren, Tara Tate of Fort Collins, CO, Joe (Julianne) Dinkel of Canon City, CO, Irvin Dinkel of Denver, CO, and Stephen Dinkel of Oklahoma City, OK; stepgrandchildren, Abigail and Noah Tate; and his beloved corgi, Phoebe.

He was preceded in death by his father, Richard; infant sister, Margery; paternal grandparents, Fidelis and Pauline Werth; maternal grandparents, Martin and Teresa Orth.

Memorials will be given to Sacred Heart Church in Colby, KS and St. Margaret Catholic Church in Cut Bank, MT.
