Jimmy D. Brown, 74, passed away August 2, 2021, at Kansas Soldier’s Home in Dodge City.

He was born September 25, 1946, in Blanco, Texas, the son of Sim and Lila Bagby Brown.

A longtime area resident he worked as an oil field manager in Oklahoma and later for Good Earth Ranch in Hanston, Kansas. He was of the Christian faith and served the United States Navy in the Vietnam War. He was a member of the American Legion, Woodward, Oklahoma, the V.F.W, Hanston, and the N.R.A. He enjoyed hunting, shooting, and reloading in his spare time.

On December 15, 1988, he married Betty Dunsworth at Buffalo, Oklahoma; she survives.

Other survivors include: a daughter, Tessa Swodeck, Great Bend; two sons, Chris (Ashley) Swodeck, Gatesville, Texas, Eric (Kendra) Brown, Burdett; two sisters, Nancy Lanning, Hanston, Laura Seal, Kerrville, Texas; four brothers, Mike Brown, Batson, Texas, Tom Brown, Odessa, Texas, Joe Brown, Hanston, Charlie Brown, Sonora, Texas; nine grandchildren: Cierra, Dawson, Logan, Canyon, Sean, Cedar, Cadence, Chandler, Mackenlie; and two great grandchildren, Evalena and Dahlyla.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and a sister, Linda Haynes.

Funeral service will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday, August 7, 2021, at the Baptist Church, Hanston, with Ronnie Ruff presiding. Visitation will be 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Friday, August 6, 2021, at Beckwith Funeral Home, Jetmore. Burial with military graveside rites will be 3:00 p.m. Saturday, August 7, 2021 in Laverne, Oklahoma.
