HAYS - The Hays girls bested a 21-team field to claim the championship of their own Prairie Classic on Saturday.
The Indians put five in the championship round and claimed three titles. Reese Vehige won the 130 pound class, Timber Lovewell took the title at 145 and Lexi Barnett won at 155. It's the second individual championship for Barnett in the last eight days after winning the Topeka Seaman crown last Saturday.
Audrey Yarmer finished runner-up at 105 and at 190 Elanor Stoffel finished in the same position.
Emersyn Copper (100) and Kenlee Vehige (120) both finished in third place.
Chassidy Carlisle (115), Crystal Walters (140), Audrey Gutierrez (170) and Emily Casas (235) all finished all finished in the top six.
Hays' score of 196 points finished ahead of Oakley (155.5) and Norton (155), who ended the day in second and third.
The area was well represented. Kia Mader of Ellis won the title at 105. Josie Bell from Hoxie was the top finisher at 120.
Kaison Miller, Norton, won at 125 and remains undefeated on the season. Her teammates Halle Pfannenstiel took the 140 pound championship, Cadence Greeson is also undefeated at 190 after claiming the championship and Adriana Winters won at 235. Dalie Braun was runner-up at 145 and Sophia Kane placed the same at 170.
Oakley finished second as a team despite winning just one weight class. Brooke Smith won the 170 pound title. Abbygayl Jackson at 135 and Kylee Hodges at 120 were runner-up.
Plainville's Kaeleigh Klein won at 100 and Hayden Staab took the 135 crown.
Saj Snyder from Stockton was the 110 pound champion. Teammate Carolina Northup finished second at 100 pounds.
