TREGO COUNTY —One person was injured in an accident just before 1:30p.m. Monday in Trego County.
The Kansas Highway Patrol reported a 2023 Kawasaki ATV driven by Ricky Virgil Pfannenstiel, 63, WaKeeney, was conducting highway maintenance on Interstate 70 just west of Ogallah.
While attempting to drive up the steep embankment of the north ditch off the Interstate and driving around a concrete box bridge opening, the ATV rolled down the embankment and into the opening. The vehicle came to rest on its wheels.
EMS transported Pfannenstiel to Trego County Lemke Memorial Hospital for treatment of serious injuries.
