There are nine invitees who are new to the Royals, including right-handed pitchers Héctor Neris and Aaron Sanchez, left-handed pitcher Helcris Olivárez (hell-crees oh-lee-vah-rez); catchers Jorge Alfaro and Elih Marrero and infielders Connor Kaiser (ky-zurr), Kevin Newman, Josh Rojas and Abraham Toro.

Right-handed pitcher Jose Cuas, who pitched for Kansas City from 2022-23, returns to the Royals after playing for the Cubs (2023-24) and Blue Jays (2024). Last year, he split the season between minor league affiliates of the Phillies and Braves. He won the Tony Conigliaro Award in 2022 for overcoming adversity through the attributes of spirit, determination and courage.

Neris, 36, is a 12-year Major League veteran, most recently playing in 35 games for three different franchises in 2025, including 21 with the Angels, 12 with the Astros and 2 with the Braves. The Dominican-born right hander, who eclipsed 10 years of Major League service time in August 2025, was an integral piece of the 2022 World Series champion Houston Astros bullpen, as he allowed just 1 run over 6.0 innings and earned 2 wins in the postseason.

Rojas, 31, has played in parts of seven Major League seasons, including a career-high 142 games in 2024 with Seattle, where he collected 29 extra-base hits, scored 48 runs and stole 10 bases. He most recently played in 69 games for the White Sox in 2025.

Toro, a 29-year-old switch hitter, is a veteran of seven Major League seasons with Houston (2019-21), Seattle (2021-22), Milwaukee (2023), the Athletics (2024) and Boston (2025). He has played in 442 games across his seven campaigns, posting a .641 OPS while playing every defensive position except catcher, shortstop and center field.

2026 marks the first invite to Major League Spring Training for 11 homegrown players, including Brown, Causey, Colleran, Martinez, Mozzicato, Panzini, Patteson, Ramírez, Roccaforte, Vázquez and Wilson.
