Rick O. Ebert — husband to Sue, father to nine, mentor to many, and friend to all — died on December 27, 2021.
Born December 7, 1952, in McCook, NE, Rick spent his life following
his adventurous spirit. He had a passion for traveling and experiencing
new things. Although he traveled all over the U.S., he always called the
McCook/Oberlin area home. He was a man who could fix anything, build
anything, and had the vision for what something could become with a
little hard work. Everyone who knew him benefitted from his immense well
of knowledge, his kindness, and his ability to make people laugh. He
was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather and poured his life into
the people he loved.
Rick never made plans as he never knew what adventure life might
bring him next. If he wasn’t traveling, fishing on his houseboat,
hunting, or working on one of his many collections, he was busy with his
many successful business ventures. Never idle, he always had a dream
and something to do.
His journey into Heaven was as unplanned as the rest of his life and
he wouldn’t have had it any other way. Rick left this earth surrounded
by his loving wife and children. He is mourned by his wife, Sue Ebert of
Oberlin, children: Dusty (Joe) Lopez, Gerry (Tina) Ebert, Rick Ebert,
Aaron (Tracy) Ebert, Kassandra (Scott) Sobesky, Charlotte Ebert, Randall
(Jordan) Ebert, Arthur Ebert, and Veronica Ebert, 67
grandchildren/great grandchildren, brother Randy Ebert, many nieces and
nephews and countless friends.
