CHEYENNE COUNTY —Two teenagers were injured in an accident just before 2p.m. Tuesday in Cheyenne County.
The Kansas Highway Patrol reported a 2003 Dodge Ram driven by Daniel J.C. Hoard, 17, St. Francis, was in the south ditch attempting to make a U-turn off of a field entrance at U.S. 36 one mile west of Kansas 27 Junction. A 2026 Peterbilt semi driven by Tyler L. Davis, 33, Nixa, Missouri, was eastbound on U.S. 36 and attempted to avoid the pickup. V
The semi struck the pickup on the driver side in front of the axle. After impact the semi continued eastbound until traveling off the roadway into the south ditch. The pickup rotated off the semi and entered the south ditch.
EMS transported Hoard and a passenger in the pickup Carson T. Githens, 16, St. Francis, to the Cheyenne County Hospital. Davis was not injured. The teens were not wearing seatbelts, according to the KHP.
