WICHITA, Kan. - The Fort Hays State track and field teams opened their week at the KT Woodman Classic hosted by Wichita State on Friday with two Tigers recording national qualifying marks.
Addie Berens placed second in the javelin throw and first among non-DI competition with a personal-best heave of 154-8, four inches further than her previous collegiate high. Rhyann Brown was third on the day with a top mark of 147-4, both of which were longer than the national qualifying threshold.
Aaron Mangan was second out of 61 runners in the 800m run, finishing less than two-tenths of one second behind a runner from the University of Oklahoma. Mangan ran a time of 1:51.65, with teammate Trever Medina close behind in fourth with a time of 1:51.93.
Jaret Pfizenmaier ran a personal-best time of 14:59.90 in the 5,000m run, ranking him ninth on the FHSU DII era performance chart.
William Tice placed sixth in the men's javelin, recording a top toss of 185-3. Faith Little also earned a top-10 finish, placing eighth in the 800m run with a time of 2:19.52.
The Tigers will wrap up the weekend at Cessna Stadium with day two of the event on Saturday (April 8), with events slated to begin at 11 a.m.
