NORTON — The Kansas Department of Transportation has begun a resurfacing project on a portion of U.S. 283 in Graham County.

Project work will consist of a surface recycle and chip seal on 12.6 miles of U.S. 283 starting 2.7 miles north of the Trego County line and ending approximately one mile south of the U.S. 24 junction.

Traffic will be reduced to one lane in the areas where crews are actively working and directed by flaggers and a pilot car. Motorists should plan for delays of up to 15 minutes during daylight hours.

Project work will be suspended for the day on Wednesday, Sept. 4.

KDOT expects the project to be completed in late September, conditions permitting.

Dustrol Inc., of Towanda, is the primary contractor for the $2.2 million project. For more information, contact KDOT Area Construction Engineer Mitchel Johnson at 785-261-6132 or mitchel.johnson@ks.gov.
