Thyra M. (Scharff) DeMarco, 87, of Russell, KS passed away Thursday, October 22, 2020, at Parkview Care Center in Osborne, KS. On July 6, 1933, Thyra was born to William & Emma (Wobb) Scharff in Coroapolis, PA.
She graduated from Coroapolis High School in 1951 in Coroapolis, PA. She later married Frank A. DeMarco in 1960 & to this union 3 children were born. Thyra & her family moved to Russell, KS in 1968 where she lived, worked & raised her family.
Thyra retired in 2010 from Klema IGA where she worked for 38 years.
She was a Born Again Christian & attended the Bible Baptist Church in Russell for many years & embraced & loved the people there as her extended family.
Thyra (also known as the World's Greatest Steeler Fan by all who knew her) was much loved by family & friends. She was a devoted mother & friend.
She was preceded in death by her parents, 2 brothers & 5 sisters.
Thyra is survived by sons: Anthony (Dana) DeMarco of Wichita, KS; Michael of Russell, KS; daughter: Doris (Steve) Waugh of Osborne, KS; 3 grandchildren & 5 great-grandchildren; sister: Emma (Bob) Bishop of Indiana.
