The Ellis County Commission will host a public hearing on the county clerk’s proposal to dissolve and reorganize five townships Tuesday at the commission’s regularly scheduled meeting at the administrative center in Hays.
During the public hearing, residents in Lookout, Wheatland, Catherine, Ellis and Victoria townships can ask questions about the process.
The move would cut the number of townships in Ellis County from nine to four.
The commission will also consider moving forward with the bidding process on the new public works facility and consider accepting a grant for the fire department.
The commission also will discuss the 2024 budget of the Noxious Weed Department. The commission also will meet at 10 a.m. Tuesday in a special budget work session at the Emergency Services Building to discuss each department’s 2024 budget.
