Joyce M. Schaffer, 68, La Crosse, Kansas, died Saturday, August 8, 2020, at her home.
Joyce was born April 9, 1952, in Denver, Colorado, the daughter of Clarence and Ludwina (Begler) Schaffer. She was a resident of La Crosse, Kansas, since 2002, moving from Denver, Colorado. A 1970 graduate of Holy Family High School, Denver, Colorado, she was a medical coordinator at Locust Grove Village, La Crosse, Kansas, before her retirement.
She was a member of St. Michael’s Catholic Church, La Crosse, Kansas, where she was a member of St. Michael’s Altar Society/St. Michael’s Social Commission, a lector, a eucharistic minister, and a PSR teacher for 12 years.
Survivors include: one sister, Geraldine McGinn (Emmett), La Crosse, Kansas; one sister in law, Shirley Schaffer, Byers, Colorado; two nephews; three nieces; and her lifelong friend, Linda Calvillo, La Crosse, Kansas.
She was preceded in death by her parents; an infant brother, Robert Schaffer; and one brother, Kenneth Schaffer.
A rosary will be led by the Ladies of the Prayer Group Thursday, August 13, 2020, at 9:30 A.M.
Memorial service will be Thursday, August 13, 2020, at 10:00 A.M. at St. Michael’s Catholic Church, La Crosse, Kansas, with Father Stephen Dabanka officiating. Inurnment will be in the La Crosse City Cemetery, La Crosse, Kansas.
