LAWRENCE – The Hays High girls cross team finished 10th at the 5A State Cross Country Meet at Rim Rock Farm outside Lawrence. Arely Maldonado led the Indians with a time of 20:54.6 and finished in 46th place.
St. James Academy won the meet with 51 points, St. Thomas Aquinas finished second with 81 and Kapaun Mt. Carmel third with 115. Great Bend placed fifth with 131.
Salina Central sophomore Katelyn Rupe won the individual title with a time of 17:13.9.
Elijah McCullough was Hays High’s lone qualifier for the boys race and placed 57th with a time of 17:43.3.
