SCOTT COUNTY—One person died in an accident just before 11a.m. Monday in Scott County.
The Kansas Highway Patrol reported a 2005 Chevy Blazer driven by Karl A. Gordon, 49, Castle Rock, CO., was northbound on U.S. 83 at the Kansas 95 Junction.
The Blazer traveled into the southbound lanes attempting to pass an oversized load in a no passing zone.
The Blazer collided head-on with a southbound Chevy Silverado driven by Charles C. Lozar, 62, Satanta, Kansas.
Gordon was pronounced dead at the scene and was transported to Price and Sons Funeral Home in Scott City. EMS transported Lozar to Wesley Medical Center. Lozar was not wearing a seat belt, according to the KHP.
