HAYS - Ty Schmeidler had three hits and drove in six runs to help lead the Hays Larks to a 12-4 comeback win over the Newton Rebels Friday night at Larks Park.

The Larks moved to 11-0 and have won all six of their home games this season and 20-straight at home going back to last season. It's the most since they won 22-straight at home from July 23, 2022 through July 18, 2023.

The recently named Sports in Kansas 2-1A Player of the year gave the Larks the lead with a single to right field in the third inning. He hit a grand slam to highlight a six-run fourth inning then closed out the scoring with an RBI double in the sixth.

Newton grabbed an early lead with four runs in the top of the first highlighted by a Sam Schmidt three-run home run. The Larks (11-0) answered with two runs in the bottom of the first then took the lead for good with three in the third. Cade Green drove in the tying run on a groundout to second, before Schmeidler's RBI single gave them the lead for good.

Carson Liles (1-0) allowed four runs on four hits with three strikeouts and one walk over four innings and was awarded the win. Trent Baker, Ty Parker and Jaxon Ramos combined for five scoreless innings or relief.

Schmeidler and Brayden Huebner both had three of the Larks 14 hits. They stole five bases and drew six walks.
