KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Fort Hays State will be the No. 3 seed in the MIAA Women's Soccer Championship Tournament. The Tigers finished in a tie for third place in the regular season standings at 8-2-1 with Emporia State, but held the tiebreaker for the No. 3 seed with a 1-0-1 record against the Hornets in the regular season.
The Tigers will host No. 6 seed Northeastern State in the opening round of the tournament on Friday evening at FHSU Soccer Stadium in Hays. The top four seeds in the tournament host opening round games. The remainder of the tournament will take place at Stryker Soccer Complex in Wichita, Kan., November 9-11. The winner of the MIAA Tournament will receive an automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament.
Fort Hays State finished the regular season with a record of 12-3-3 overall. FHSU is one of three teams from the MIAA that finished with 10 or more wins during the regular season. FHSU won its conference matchup with Northeastern State earlier this season by a score of 2-0 in Tahlequah, Okla.
