Jeannie Marie (Laevenstein) Hamrick

Jeannie Marie (Laevenstein) Hamrick of Plainville, Kansas passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, October 9, 2021, at her mother’s home in Hoxie, Kansas. She was born into the family of Donald and Janet (Diederich) Laevenstein on February 12, 1974. She was joined by a baby sister Shelly, nine months later. Don and Janet loved and welcomed their daughters into their hearts. They made their home in Hoxie, Kansas. Jeannie attended Hoxie Grade School and Hoxie High School graduating with the class of 1992. After graduation, Jeannie attended Cloud County Community College. Jeannie earned an Associate’s Degree in Hospitatlity and Hotel Management. During her course of study, she went to several large cities including New York City which was a highlight in her life. Jeannie was baptized at the St. Frances Cabrini Catholic Church, Hoxie where she was confirmed and took her first communion.

Jeannie worked at the Sheridan County Health Complex in the kitchen and housekeeping departments. Most of her life she spent as a homemaker. She loved her house plants and flowers. She had a green thumb and could grow most anything. Jeannie had many health conditions, but she was so caring, she worried more about other people and how they were doing. Jeannie’s family, including her puppy, Clyde was so important to her.

Jeannie is survived by her sister, Shelly Kuhn and husband Keith of Hoxie, Kansas; niece, Ashley Kuhn of Hoxie, Kansas ; nephew, Andrew Kuhn of Hoxie, Kansas; puppy, Clyde; and many relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Don and Janet Laevenstein; grandparents, Gabe and Elizabeth Laevenstein, Julius and Mae Diederich.

A Funeral Service will be held Wednesday, October 20, 2021, at 2:00 P.M., at the Mickey-Leopold Funeral Home. Visitation will be held Wednesday, October 20, 2021 from 9:00 A.M. until 1:45 P.M. at the funeral home with Family receiving friends from 1:00 P.M. to 1:45 P.M. with a Rosary to be held at 1:45 prior to the service. Interment will be in the St. Frances Cabrini Catholic Cemetery following the service. The family suggests memorials to the St. Frances Cabrini Catholic Cemetery. Jeannie’s life was not always easy. Now, she has made the journey home and is resting in the arms of her Lord and savior. She has no more pain, sadness or sorrow and will never hurt again. She has earned her wings, and God is taking care of her now. She is remembered with love.
